Riding Lessons

At CLF we take great pride in our lesson program. As this is where it all begins. Students take a hands on approach to horsemanship. They learn to groom, tack and properly handle their horse before and after riding. Students are encouraged to volunteer so that they can learn more about the care and training of our wonderful horses.

Students are assigned their lesson mount based on their previous riding experience (or lack there of). Sonoma Saphire is our "perfect" lady who is great with all level of riders. She was a jumping mount and is now "semi-retired" giving lessons and a little local showing. Deuce is our taller lesson mount who is a retired Dressage/Hunter Pleasure mount.

Lesson Rates: $50 Lesson - Private or Semi-Private, 30-60 minutes

I like to start all beginner riders in private lessons. This way we can focus on their position and seat in a longe line lesson. Once the rider has established control of their legs and seat we move on to steering while at the walk/trot. Once the rider can successfully maneuver their mount around the arena they are then able to join the group lessons. I focus a lot on Equitation ( refers to a rider's position while mounted, and encompasses a rider's ability to ride correctly and with effective aids. In horse show competition, the rider, rather than the horse is evaluated) when you are riding a lesson mount. As you become a more advanced rider we start to set goals for you and your lessons will then be tailored towards achieving those goals. Some examples would be a rider wanting to exhibit at their first show, a rider wanting to learn Dressage etc... If you are interested in furthering your career as an equestrian we can help you locate a suitable horse to fit your needs. We sometimes have horses available for lease so you can ride a show quality mount without the expense and commitment of purchasing one.

Horseback Riding

Have a little one interested in horses?

This is a new program designed for kids 2 - 5 to particpate with their parents! This is a one hour lesson, including grooming and riding. When you arrive we will groom the horse together, learning about safety and care, then we will ride bareback or in a saddle on our wonderful horse Sonoma Saphire. Lessons are semi-private and each youngster and parent will get an opportunity to take a ride.

Riding is a great way to get outdoors, learn about animals, help with core strength and balance and bond with your child! This special class has an introductory price of $40 per class. Classes will be offered every Tuesday at 9:30 am.
